ESTERO, Fla.– Local residents seeking a unique Latin dining experience can satisfy their cravings at El Nido, a Modern Mexican restaurant set to open at Coconut Point Shopping Center in early May.
Owned and operated by Estero locals Joe and Donna Sofia, El Nido fills the gap neatly with a diverse menu that blends the best of Latin American cuisine, classic Mexican dishes, top-shelf tequila and single-origin Latin American coffees.
“In the 16 years we’ve lived and done business here, we always felt the one thing Coconut Point needed was a great Mexican restaurant,” said co-owner Donna Sofia. “We had a vision to offer not only amazing food and drinks, but a fun, interactive atmosphere that makes people want to come back again and again.”
As a complement to lively décor and the warm hospitality of its owners, El Nido serves a variety of palates. The menu is carefully constructed by Executive Chef Pedro Diaz, whose resumé includes decades of culinary experience across North and South America, appearances on Food Network’s Chopped, and a title-winning stint on Cutthroat Kitchen.
“‘Modern Mexican’ showcases the chef’s creativity and brings in a variety of flavors,” says co-owner Joe Sofia. “We’re a scratch kitchen; we use fresh, local ingredients, house-made sauces and recipes you won’t find anywhere else.”
El Nido is set to open Monday, May 9th, and will operate 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to close, serving lunch, dinner, an early bird menu and weekend brunch. The 5,000-square-foot space includes an indoor and outdoor bar, seating for 220 guests and a private room for special events of up to 50 guests.
