CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A 34-year-old Cape Coral man died at the hospital after he was hit by a car on Del Prado Boulevard on Saturday night.
According to Cape Coral police, a 43-year-old man was driving a Toyota SUV south in the 200 block of Del Prado Boulevard around 10:24 p.m.
The pedestrian, who officers identified as Corey Adam Bourgard, started crossing Del Prado Boulevard in an area that did not have overhead lighting. The closest intersection was several hundred feet away.
Bourgard, who was wearing dark clothing, walked into the path of the SUV. He was hit and thrown over the car, landing on the grassy median, officers said.
The driver came an immediate stop nearby.
Bourgard was taken as a trauma alert to Gulf Coast Hospital where he died from his injuries at 1:14 a.m.
There are no criminal charges pending as part of this investigation, Cape Coral police said. The crash was not alcohol or drug related, in reference to the driver.
