LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of people in Lee County are picking up the pieces after a morning of wild weather near the Iona-McGregor area Sunday morning.
62 homes in Lee County were destroyed in the storms. Four people were injured, though not seriously.
As of 1pm Sunday, more than 7,000 people in Lee County were without power following the tornado touchdown.
According to fire officials, roughly 150-200 people have been displaced, and an emergency shelter has opened for people who need a safe place to go.
While the NWS has not confirmed details of a storm, we know a tornado destroyed many homes, toppled trees, and left a massive trail of destruction in Lee County.
Residents in the Century 21 mobile were hit particularly hard, including one man who described hunkered down in the fetal position with the twister tore his home to shreds.
