BUCKINGHAM, Fla. — One dog and one cat is dead after a fire tore through a Buckingham home Sunday night.
Firefighters with the Fort Myers Shores Fire Department (FMSFD) responded to the home on Keygrass Lane around 7:39 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire conditions in the garage area and front of the house.
All six residents inside the home made it out safely without any injuries. Unfortunately, the dog and cat did not make it out in time.
Crews were able to contain the fire to one side of the home before it spread.
The fire is currently under investigation.
Bayshore Fire Department, Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, and Tice Fire Department assisted FMSFD in battling the blaze.
