FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Shots were fired during a large fight on Fort Myers Beach on Monday afternoon, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
During a busy Memorial Day celebration on the beach, multiple people began fighting just before 5 p.m. on the beachside of Avenue C before shots were heard, deputies said.
No one was injured in shooting, investigators said. A large law enforcement presence was seen lining the streets on Fort Myers Beach, and crime scene tape blocked off a large portion of the beach.
SWFL Crime Stoppers released a photo of the shooting suspect on Tuesday morning. An updated version of that photo, showing a witness recording the shooting, has since been released.

Deputies are investigating the incident and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
Law enforcement was also searching for the witness to the shooting. They have since identified and spoken with him.
According to Crime Stoppers officials, “he was never a suspect in the case, but rather someone we needed to speak with.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact SWFL Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.

This is a developing story.
