COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A woman and five children were involved in a Thursday night crash on US-41 in Collier County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Two children, ages 8 and 10, were seriously injured in the crash and were airlifted to Nicholas Children’s Hospital in Miami. The 10-year-old girl is in critical condition, FHP reported. Both were in the front seat without a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The other children, a newborn, a 6-year-old and a 7-year-old were uninjured in the crash. The 27-year-old driver had minor injuries. All six are from Ochopee, Florida.
The woman was traveling west on US-41 approaching County Road 94 around 10:55 p.m. when she ran into the back of a car traveling in front of her. The other car fled the scene after being hit.
Anyone with information about the second driver is asked to call FHP or Crime Stoppers.
