SARASOTA, Fla. – A Punta Gorda woman was arrested Thursday for a drunken crash that cost the life of a 21-year-old in December, Florida Highway Patrol reported.
On Dec. 14 at 10:40 p.m., Olivia Hernandez, 37, was driving south on northbound I-75 near mile marker 194 when she slammed head on into another car.

A Lauderdale Lakes 21-year-old driving the other car died. A 16-year-old passenger from Pembroke Pines was seriously injured, troopers reported.
After a long investigation, troopers arrested Hernandez for DUI manslaughter, DUI serious bodily injury and DUI property damage.

A toxicology examination determined Hernandez’s blood alcohol concentration level to be a .133, according to FHP.
She is booked at the Sarasota County Jail.
